Hayley’s travels in Costa Rica are the inspiration for this print: bold blooms translated in 100% silk crepe de chine. The print name, Beija Flor, is the Brazilian Portuguese word for hummingbird. Hayley commissioned her father, John Menzies, to create watercolour paintings of the birds that captivated her attention in Costa Rica. These paintings became part of the print, which took 2 weeks for our London team to illustrate. Handwritten lyrics from Duran Duran’s ‘Rio’ – the inspiring song for the collection – are written throughout.
